The store
NACLABOR is a board games shop in Kilimani, Nairobi. We opened in 2019 in a small room inside Tetu Apartments on State House Road. At the time we had about 30 games, one table, and a hope that people in Nairobi would be interested in sitting down together and playing something that was not on a screen.
Turns out they were. Six years later we stock over 200 titles. The room got bigger. We added more tables so people could come in, pull a game off the shelf, and try it before buying. That is still how we prefer to sell — you play it, you decide. No pressure.
We carry everything from Monopoly and Scrabble to long strategy games that take an entire afternoon. We also rent games for people who want to try something for a weekend before committing. Rental costs between KSh 200 and KSh 500 depending on the game, and you get your deposit back when you return it in one piece.
How we work
We import directly from publishers and distributors in Europe and the US. That means we can stock titles that are hard to find anywhere else in East Africa. When something new comes out and we think it is good, we order it. When customers ask for something specific, we order that too. Most special orders arrive within 2-3 weeks.
We deliver within Nairobi — KSh 350 flat, free above KSh 5,000. Outside Nairobi we ship through courier partners. The website lists some of our games, but the full range is at the store. If you are in Nairobi and free on a Saturday, that is when things get busy. We run open game nights every other weekend. No fee, no sign-up. Just show up and play.
